Compared with the traditional AGV car differential control method, the steering wheel is highly integrated and highly adaptable. It is compatible with Tongyi's controller and low-voltage IXL Servo driver for rapid deployment of AGVs, mobile robots, etc.
2. What are the advantages of the steering wheel over the differential control method?
The steering wheel controls the steering by making relative movement with the car body, so when two or more steering wheels are installed, the car can go straight in any direction, that is, translate. Therefore, AGV equipped with more than two steering wheels can pass through This space is not available in the differential mode.
3. How to choose a steering wheel
The choice of steering wheel is mainly based on the following three points
Generally speaking, the speed of the steering wheel is 60-70M / Min, which is basically the same for everyone. But make sure the speed of the steering wheel is not lower than the design speed of your vehicle
2) Drag load
This value determines whether the steering wheel has enough force to drag the body and cargo. But in general, the drag load of the steering wheel is calculated according to the steering wheel's 5-10S acceleration to the rated speed of the steering wheel, and the road surface is selected to be flat and has no slope. If your AGV has a certain slope, or you want faster acceleration, then you should choose a larger type of steering wheel, please contact the sales engineer for the specific type. If your AGV design is slow and the acceleration requirements are very low, you can choose a steering wheel whose drag load is less than the weight of the car body. 3) Bearing load
The bearing load indicates how much weight the steering wheel can bear. Do not allow the steering wheel to bear a weight exceeding the rated load. Generally, AGV vehicles are equipped with load-bearing wheels, and the weight of the car body is distributed on the steering wheel and load-bearing wheels. Therefore, the load of the steering wheel is only used as a reference data for designing the car body.
4.Use steering wheel body design
1) Single steering wheel
If the cargo position of the car body is fixed, a three-point design method can be used, that is, the steering wheel is installed in the front of the car body, and two load-bearing wheels in the fixed direction are installed at the rear of the car body. Four-point type: the steering wheel is installed at the front left of the car body, the universal wheel is installed at the front right, and two load-bearing wheels at a fixed angle are installed at the rear. Five-point type: two universal wheels are installed at the four corners of the front of the car, and the steering wheel can be installed at the center of the front half of the car. If the road surface is not very flat, the four-point or five-point installation may suspend the steering wheel, so installing a damping spring between the car body and the steering wheel can solve this problem very well.
2) Dual steering wheels and multiple steering wheels
The installation method of the dual steering wheel and multiple steering wheels is relatively free. It can be installed at the center or diagonal position of the car. There are two common installation methods and differences of the dual steering wheel:
1.Steering wheel centerline arrangement
This installation method is currently adopted by most steering wheel manufacturers. The steering wheels are installed at the center line of the car body and are distributed one behind the other. Four universal wheels are installed at the four corners of the car body. The advantages of this installation method are easy to control and the magnetic sensor is mounted on the steering wheel. The cost is relatively low. The disadvantage is that the steering wheel must be equipped with shock absorption, because if the road is uneven, the steering wheel may be suspended.
2.Diagonal arrangement of steering wheel
This installation method is currently used relatively rarely, because the advantages and disadvantages of this structure are obvious. Advantages: Regardless of the road conditions, at least one of the steering wheels is in contact with the ground. The entire vehicle will not lose power completely, and the bearing structure design is relatively simple. The disadvantage is that if the magnetic navigation sensor is installed on the steering wheel, two magnetic strips need to be arranged on the ground. If the magnetic navigation is installed in the middle of the car body, the control is more complicated, because the car body control has a lag time of several seconds compared with the steering wheel control. When the speed is faster, it is easy to derail.
